The Beginning

I started on the warehouse dock. It sounds cliched, but it was honest work. I was moving vinyl siding and windows at a distribution house, learning the supply chain from the ground up. Over two decades, I climbed from that dock to the executive side of the same company. I saw everything—the good installers who treated every job like it was their own home, and the contractors who cut corners because the customer couldn't see what happened inside the walls.

In 2006, I started Tabor Homes on the side while still working distribution. It wasn't a grand plan. It was a frustration that turned into a business. I knew what good looked like. I knew what the best suppliers actually provided. And I knew the gap between what homeowners thought they were getting and what many contractors actually delivered.

For twelve years, I ran Tabor Homes in the evenings and on weekends. Eventually, I had to choose. In 2018, I walked away from the corporate side and committed to this full time. It was the clearer choice the longer I looked at it.

What We've Learned

Twenty years on the distribution side taught us things that matter every day. We've seen the best products paired with mediocre installation, and we've seen solid work undermined by cheap materials. We learned early that quality isn't a one-variable problem. It's everything—the supplier, the installer, the attention to detail, the follow-through.
